Jazz Is 2

It is indication of the secret repositories of soul soaring talent that Dwight Tribble, the vocalist you are about to hear if you wisely stick around, worked for some years in the audio-visual department of my college. He established his career locally, playing clubs throughout Los Angeles with his own ensemble, then adding to that work his appearances as vocalist with the Pharoah Sanders Quartet. I have seen Dwight live multiple times, with Sanders, too. He is a wonder.

Here, from the Montreux Jazz Festival, is Dwight performing, from his 2004 CD Living Waters, his original composition “John Coltrane.” Stay with it to its glorious conclusion. Observe the pleasure of the other musicians in Dwight’s talent. Turn up the sound, expand the video to full screen, sit back and revel.

Ladies and gentleman: the human voice.
